
The founder of the Animal Medical Clinic in Uptown died unexpectedly Sunday at the age of 70, according to a Hodroff-Epstein Memorial obituary.
Joel Locketz, a veterinarian from Minnetonka, opened the Animal Medical Clinic in 1970. He also volunteered with various animal-related organizations, as well as Big Brothers Big Sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Gittleman Locketz; two daughters; two sons; two sisters and other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and Jan Locketz Dolejsi, his wife of 20 years.

A funeral service has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Israel (2324 Emerson Ave. S., Minneapolis). Shiva will take place at the Locketz residence at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
