'Deeply Devoted Physician' From Minnetonka Passes Away at 93
Mary Helen Pennington, M.D served for many years at the University of Minnesota Boyton Health Service, later in private practice, and was elected a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Mary Helen Pennington Christensen M.D., 93, of Minnetonka died on Jan. 20.
Mary Helen (Penny) was a deeply compassionate physician, according to her obituary. She graduated from the University of Minnesota as a pediatrician and child and adolescent psychiatrist. She served for many years at the University of Minnesota Boyton Health Service, later in private practice, and was elected a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Â
Penny's children Scott Christensen (Bonnie) live in Minnetonka. She also has four grandchildren. Â
A service to honor Penny is at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church (600 Hopkins Crossroad) in Minnetonka. Visitation is one hour prior to service. Donations are preferred to Minnesota Medical Foundation, Mary Helen Pennington, M.D., Endowed Scholarship.Â
