GoFundMe Page Set Up for Family of Minnetonka Student Killed Sunday
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of 16-year-old Samantha Lea Burnette, who was shot and killed Sunday morning.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of a Minnetonka High School student who was shot and killed Sunday.
St. Paul police officers were called to an alley on the 700 block of Sims Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims, including 16-year-old Samantha Lea Burnette, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burnette attended Minnetonka High School.

The other victim, Burnette’s 20-year-old sister Brittany Rock, was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment. Police said she was struck in the head and was not shot.
Burnette died in a St. Paul alley as her sister held her.

Rock wrote that she set up the GoFundMe page "in honor" of her sister and to help her family pay for the funeral.

As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the page had raised $480 of a $5,000 goal.
Police have so far charged four people in connection to the murder.

Burnette's funeral is 1:00 p.m. Friday at Cremation Services Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. A visitation will begin at noon.
