I love words! Like foofaraw. It’s so much fun to throw around. I especially like to know where words come from. July, for example, is named after Julius Caesar, ruler of the Roman Empire for several years, ending with his murder in 44 B.C.

Not much is known about what ordinary folk ate in the Roman Empire of Julius Caesar’s time, but written accounts of lavish meals eaten by the wealthy class exist, and indicate that their diet was heavy in meats and light in the veggie department. Exotic spices were also a staple for that group.

Some of my favorite Rome-inspired or Italian foods include pasta, and pizza.
