Minnetonka AAA Providing Free Trick-or-Treat Safety Kits

Every Halloween, monsters, zombies and ghouls fill the streets across the Twin Cities to celebrate. And if that’s not scary enough, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Oct. 31 is one of the deadliest nights of the year for pedestrians. In an effort to help keep trick-or-treaters safe, AAA will be giving out free safety kits to parents and kids at its Minnetonka location starting Tuesday and going through Monday, Oct. 31, according to a news release.

Minnetonka/Ridge Square (North) Branch

AAA told Patch the bags include three three Halloween safety printouts with trick-or-treating safety tips, one glow-light wristband, and candy. The bags are Halloween themed and can be used for trick-or-treating too.

"On Halloween, motorists need to be especially vigilant between the hours of 4 p.m. and midnight, when pedestrians are most active for holiday activities," said Madi VanGundy, Community Outreach Coordinator for AAA Minneapolis, in a statement.

"We want drivers to stay focused, sober, and slow down to keep our kids safe. Meanwhile, we want parents to help keep their kids visible and attentive when they’re out trick-or-treating."
