Minnetonka Boy, 12, Stabs Brother To Death: Police

Investigators believe a kitchen knife was used in the fatal stabbing.

MINNETONKA, MN — A teenager is dead after his 12-year-old brother stabbed him to death, authorities said. Just after 8 p.m. Saturday, Minnetonka police were called to an apartment complex on Fairfield Road on a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old with a life-threatening stab wound to the chest. CPR was initiated, and the victim was transported to North Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the victim’s 12-year-old brother used a kitchen knife to commit the stabbing. The mother and other family members were home at the time of the incident, investigators said.

On Monday, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced it has charged a case against the 12-year-old boy. The case will be handled in the juvenile court system. Because of his age, no other information is public.
