The League of American Bicyclists created Bike Month in 1956 to encourage more people to try biking. The Minnetonka City Council approved a Bike Month resolution and the city continues to work on building out its trail system.

The community bike ride will begin at 5:00 p.m. on the 19th at the Minnetonka Community Center. The ride, which is less than 2 miles, will follow Minnetonka Boulevard east to the I-494 bike trail and then travel north for a few blocks. The path will then head west along Minnehaha Place and return to the community center through the Minnetonka Civic Center campus trail.

The community ride will celebrate Minnetonka's recent designation as a Monarch Champion City. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes and themselves to support the butterfly theme. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Please bring a mask. Helmets are encouraged, but not required.

Minnetonka will also support Bike to Work Day which is Friday, May 21. Commuters will be greeted with pit stop/energizer stations at a few locations including the trail adjacent to Minnetonka Civic Center campus.
