State Highlights Discrimination Helpline Amid Rise In Complaints In Minnetonka

Nearly a year after launching a helpline, the State of Minnesota continues to report an increase in reports of discrimination from the Asian American community. The Discrimination Helpline was created last April to reinforce the state's efforts to protect the civil rights of Minnesotans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Media outlets across the country have reported increases in assaults and complaints of discrimination since a shooting in Atlanta last week killed eight people, including six women of Asian descent. The Asian Minnesotan Alliance for Justice is hosting an event Wednesday, March 24 titled Unheard Stories: Asian Americans Experiencing Hate.

The Minnesota Discrimination Helpline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The toll-free number is 1-833-454-0148.
