The celebration takes place Sept. 7 - 11, the weekend after Labor Day. Among the favorite events during the week are the reenactments of the robbery, which is staged on Division street, outside of the First National Bank.
Other activities during the festival include a rodeo, carnival, car show, parade, horseshoe hunt, arts and crafts, and musical performances.
Visit Historic Downtown
Division Street, which runs along the Cannon River, is full of historic buildings. Northfield has successfully repurposed many of its beautiful, historic buildings, most of which date back to before 1900.
Cannon River Walkway
The Cannon River is one of Northfield's most beautiful sights. Stroll the Cannon River Walkway and enjoy the scenic view.
Northfield Arts Guild
Northfield is home to a fabulous art scene, thanks to the Northfield Arts Guild, which works to inspire the community by providing artistic opportunities.
The guild is housed in two historic buildings, one in downtown (304 Division St S) and the other, a converted church that is now a theater, is just a few blocks away. The downtown building has a gallery, small performing arts venue and studios.
Carleton College, St. Olaf College
Residents might not be surprised to learn that Northfield made a recent list of the best college towns in the nation.
Carleton College has been called the Harvard of the Midwest and draws high-achieving students.
St. Olaf College is known for its exceptional music program. The St. Olaf Choir, St. Olaf Orchestra and St. Olaf Band have all received international recognition.
Malt-O-Meal (Just the smell)
While you can't actually tour the plant, it's worth knowing that Northfield is home to the only place where Malt-O-Meal hot cereal is produced. It's hard to miss the smell if you drive by!
