Another Resident Generously Donates $500 For Annual Shade Tree Sale In Northfield

After news went out about a Northfield resident donating $500, a second resident, who also wishes to remain anonymous, generously donated $500 to the City of Northfield for residents who are unable to commit financially for the annual shade tree sale.

“It’s really great to see residents donate funds for all to enjoy a shade tree,” said Streets and Parks Manager Tim Behrendt. “Residents interested should complete the tree sale form located on the city website noting which tree species is preferred and that they would like this donation to go towards the purchase of their tree.”

The City of Northfield is accepting tree orders for the annual shade tree sale now until April 30, 2021. The city has 103 trees available in 13 species. Most trees will be between 3 to 10 feet tall and one-half to one inch in trunk diameter. Prices range from $79 to $109 per tree. Orders will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis.

Planting is scheduled for May 22. Buyers will pick up a stake to indicate where the tree is to be planted in their yard. A volunteer group will organize and coordinate volunteers to help plant the trees. Tree care instructions will be given to buyers to help the trees thrive.
