Northfield High School student and Civil Air Patrol cadet is awarded a glider pilot training scholarship by the Minnesota Soaring Club.

STANTON, MN – On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Airman Christopher Frago was awarded the Phil Schacht Memorial Youth Scholarship by the Minnesota Soaring Club (MSC). C/Amn Frago will receive a one-year membership in the Minnesota Soaring Club for the purpose of flight training. The award also includes a $500 stipend to cover a portion of training costs (glider use fee and tow plane charges).

C/Amn Frago stated “I am incredibly happy and grateful to be receiving this award, as I know it is not always granted each year. I want to thank the MN Soaring Club, not only for giving me the opportunity to have a fun summer in the air, but also for enabling my future as a pilot, be it commercial or recreational.” Cadet Frago added “I am especially happy that I will be learning to fly gliders, as they are less commonly seen than powered aircraft, and look like a blast to fly.”
