Dakota County Sheriff: More Than 1,000 Participate in Polar Plunge

A Good Day for a Plunge
Last Saturday proved to be a good day for the South Metro Polar Plunge. As in past years, the event was well-attended, with over 1,000 plungers raising a record $250,000 for the Special Olympics.

As usual the DCSO was well represented with a large contingent of staff willing to jump. As in past years, Deputy Jen Lenarz was the “ring leader,” organizing much of the event.
And the Winner is
On Tuesday the Dakota County Board of Commissioners acknowledged a large group ofemployees for their years of service. Several members of the DCSO were included in the ceremony.
They were Captain Brad Jeska, Inmate Recreation Coordinator Loren Hanson, Correctional Sergeant John Heger, and Deputy Todd West, all for 25 years with Dakota County. Also recognized was Correctional Corporal Lisa Peterson for her 20 years with the County. Congratulations to all and thank you for your service.
