Labor Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Northfield

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed on Labor Day 2017 in Northfield, Minnesota.

NORTHFIELD, MN — For most people, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, with the Minnesota State Fair ending and kids and college students in the Twin Cities heading back to school. This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Because Labor Day is a federal holiday, it means a day off work and no school for children, and many municipal services are also closed.

  • Government offices: Closed
  • Department of Vehicle Services: CLosed
  • Libraries: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • U.S. Post Offices: Closed

The office closures do not affect 911, police and fire emergency services. City offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Most businesses and retail centers are open on Labor Day, but it's always best to double check hours or call ahead. Liquor stores can legally be open in Minnesota on Labor Day, but some stores may decide to close for the holiday.
