Lane Closures, Slowdowns Expected Due to Work on Highway 19

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin work on stretches of Highway 19 that fall within Northfield city limits.

Motorists should expect delays on one of Northfield's main thoroughfares.

If all goes according to plan, on Monday construction crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin mill and overlay work on Highway 19 in Northfield. The work is part of a $3.8 million refurbishment of the highway, focusing on the portion from officials Northfield's Second Street Bridge to Cannon Falls.

While work is going on, drivers could encounter lane closures with flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should prepare for delays, particularly near the intersection of Division Street and Second Street. If possible, use alternate routes.

Work should conclude by late Tuesday, Sept. 10.
