Minnesota Weather: 5 Inches Of Snow Possible In Metro
Up to 9 inches of snow could fall outside the metro in southern Minnesota this weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS-SAINT PAUL METRO, MN — It looks like more snow is in store for central Minnesota than originally forecasted. The National Weather Service's winter weather advisory has been extended into the Twin Cities metro, including Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Scott, and Dakota counties.

The metro will likely see snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 inches between noon Saturday and noon Sunday. Plan on slippery, snow-covered roads and limited visibilities. Use extreme caution while driving.

What to expect in southern Minnesota
The weekend snowfall will be more intense in southern Minnesota. Between 5 to 9 inches of snow could fall in the south, generally west of a line from Madelia to Kiester, according to the National Weather Service.

The south-central counties, including Redwood, Brown, Nicollet, Le Sueur and Rice, should expect total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches. Winds will be gusting as high as 35 mph.
