Weekend Snowstorm: Southern Minnesota Under Winter Weather Watch

Up to 8 inches of snow will be possible in southern Minnesota this weekend.

RICE COUNTY, MN — Snow is expected to return Saturday across southern Minnesota. Precipitation will start as a mix of freezing rain and snow Saturday morning before transitioning to all snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Accumulations of up to 8 inches will be possible, with the heaviest snow currently expected along the I-90 corridor.

A winter storm watch is already in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday in southern Minnesota.

Travel could be very difficult, especially along I-90 and along I-35 between the Twin Cities and the Iowa border. Patchy, blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
