New Northfield support group for children and families with Type 1 Diabetes

A mom and daughter team, Claire and Linnea Larson, are launching a FREE support group for families and children who face the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes in Northfield and surrounding communities. They will plan on hosting 9 meetings throughout the school year, starting in October and continuing through May, 2016. Every meeting will have a unique topic regarding Type 1 Diabetes and guest speakers will be invited to engage and educate families and children on various aspects of Diabetes management.

Although the meetings will be held in Northfield at the Middle School Media Center on the first Monday of each month from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., the group will welcome any other neighboring-community families to join in the discussion, education and collaboration of this group. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 5 and will feature discussion on Diabetes resources.

No pre-registration is required to attend these free meetings and families can simply show up on the night. Special activities and discussion for children will be planned during each meeting. Light, diabetic-friendly snacks will also be served at each meeting.
