Northfield Native Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Kirk Otto Whitney, of Bloomington, passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer Nov. 22. Whitney was 76 years old.

According to his obituary on Legacy.com, Whitney was was born to Lester and Geraldine Whitney in Northfield on Sept. 8, 1937. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Minnesota Air National Guard in 1996.

A celebration of his life was held at Richfield United Methodist Church on Nov. 26. Interment will be at a later date.
