Northfield Police Issue Winter Storm Warning
Here's what you need to know about the weekend's snowstorm in Northfield.

The Northfield Police Department is notifying the community of an impending winter storm to
be followed by dangerously low temperatures and wind chills combined with blowing snow. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning effective noon, Friday through 6 p.m., Saturday.
Northfield area is expected to receive 6 to 12 inches of total snowfall, according to a news release.
This weekend, temperatures will fall well below zero degrees and wind chills may be as low as 20 to 30 below zero. Blowing and drifting snow will also make travel difficult.

The Northfield Police Department reminds people to use great caution during these severe weather conditions. Plan on difficult driving conditions.
Winds gusting as high as 30 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow. Expect some reductions in visibility.

The dangerously cold wind chills will cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Consider modifying or cancelling travel plans.

- Keep an extra flashlight, blanket, food, and water in your vehicle.
- Keep your fuel tank as full as possible. o Make sure you have a fully charged cellphone.
- Notify others of your travel route and expected arrival time.
The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511. The city of Northfield expects to declare a Snow Emergency on Friday.
- Be aware of the following info related to snow plowing and parking.
- There is no overnight parking on city streets from Nov. 15 to March 15.
- During a snow emergency, there is no parking on any city streets for the duration of the declared emergency.
- Downtown parking lots: Pay attention to the temporary signs posted at the parking lots and check the other resources listed below.
