Northfield School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Northfield is September 5. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Northfield Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/23 - 8/24: New Teacher Activities
• 8/28: Teacher Preparation Day
• 8/29 - 8/31: Staff Development Days

September

• 9/5: First Day of School

October

• 10/19 - 10/20: No School (Education Minnesota Break)

November

• 11/3: End of First Quarter
• 11/6: No School (Teacher Preparation Day)
• 11/7: Beginning of Second Quarter
• 11/22: No School (Staff Development Day)
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21 - 1/1: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/15: No School (Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday)
• 1/25: End of Second Quarter / End of First Semester
• 11/26: No School (Teacher Preparation Day)
• 11/29: Beginning of Third Quarter / Beginning of Second Semester

February

• 2/19: No School (Teacher Staff Development Day)
  • If three (3) days are cancelled on or before February 16, 2018, the make-up day for students and teachers is February 19, 2018.

March

• 3/23: End of Third Quarter
• 3/26 - 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2: No School (Teacher Preparation Day)
• 4/3: Beginning of Fourth Quarter

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/3: Graduation (2:00 p.m.)
• 6/7: Last Day of School, 2-hour Early Dismissal
• 6/8: Possible Make-Up Day for Students and Teachers
• 6/11: Possible Make-Up Day for Teachers
