NORTHFIELD — Less than 6,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Rice County so far in May. It's on pace to be the slowest month since February, when vaccine supply was severely limited.

Just under 50 percent of the entire county has received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health. Almost 41 percent have completed their vaccine series.

Rice County is underperforming Minnesota overall. About 50 percent of the state's total population has received at least one dose, and just over 43 percent completed their vaccine series.

In Minnesota, nearly, 1.6 million doses were administered in April. Only about 560,000 doses have been administered so far in May.
