The Contented Cow 'Movember' Kick-Off Party


When: 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.

Where: The Contented Cow, 302B Division St. S.

Details: The local pub is holding its first Movember kick-off party in support of raising awareness for men's health. Movember is a global charity that raises money and awareness for men's health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer.

Winter Vendor Extravaganza


When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.

Where: Northfield Ballroom, 1055 Highway 3 N.

Details: The Northfield MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group will be holding a vendor show as a fundraiser for its group this year. The list of vendors include: Scentsy, doTerra, Norwex, Mary Kay, Tastefully Simple, It Works, Jamberry Nails and many, many more.

Buckthorn Pulling - Volunteer event


When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.

Where: Sibley Elementary School, 1400 Maple St.

Details: Buckthorn is an invasive species of shrub, choking out native trees and shrubs. What to bring: gardening gloves, drinking water, and if you have these: weed wrench and hand saw. Wear long pants and long sleeves, as it will be chilly.

Try Hockey Free Day


When: 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013

Where: Northfield Ice Arena, 1280 Bollenbacher Dr.

Details: The Northfield Hockey Association invites boys and girls to the ice arena for a free clinic to experience ice hockey for the first time. To register, go to TryHockeyForFree.com or contact Dawn Patterson at recruiting@northfieldhockey.net.

Learn to Homebrew Day


When: 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.

Where: The Contented Cow, 302B Division St. S.

Details: Homebrewing is easy and fun, which is why the Milltown Mashers are hosting a free and public Learn to Homebrew Day event at Northfield's The Contented Cow.
