Tornado Touchdown In Southern Minnesota: Videos, Photos

As many as eight tornados​ were reported in southwestern Minnesota Wednesday night, and experts say at least three touched down.

Amidst flash flooding and heavy winds across much of central and southern Minnesota, the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touchdown in Nicollet County Wednesday night. NWS said the tornado was reported going 20 mph at one point.

As many as eight tornados were reported in southwestern Minnesota. NWS told the Associated Press that at least three and potentially six of those tornadoes touched down. The first one reportedly touched town near Lake Crystal, Minnesota just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Heavy rain led to flooded roads and yards from southern Minnesota up to the south of the Twin Cities metro. In a matter of 30 minutes, NWS reported it received 1.98 inches of rain at its office in Chanhassen, with flooding in the backyard.

Just before 6 p.m., NWS issued a tornado warning for the southwest Twin Cities metro, but rotation weakened and the warning was later canceled.

No injuries were reported in Wednesday's storms. NWS will survey storm damage Thursday.

Rain will come to an end from west to east Thursday with some sunshine possible in the afternoon. Another chance for showers and storms arrives Friday.
