What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving Weekend In Northfield

NORTHFIELD, MN — Thanksgiving is Nov. 23 and Black Friday is Nov. 24, and while some businesses and services have announced they will be closed both days, others are preparing for one of the most critical weekends of the holiday shopping season. Here's a look at which institutions, businesses, and restaurants will be available on Thanksgiving and Black Friday this year:

Schools: Northfield do not have school Nov. 23 and Nov. 24

Liquor stores: All Minnesota liquor stores are legally required to close Thanksgiving

Public Library: Dakota County Library locations are closed Thanksgiving Day

Postal Service: Post offices will be closed for Thanksgiving but open on Black Friday. Mail pickup and delivery are on normal schedules Friday.

Banks: Most banks will be closed for Thanksgiving, but the majority of banks — such as JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citibank — will be open on Black Friday.

Metro Transit: Metro Transit buses and the METRO Blue and Green lines will follow Sunday/Holiday schedules on Thanksgiving Day. The METRO Red Line will follow weekend/Holiday schedules that day.

Northstar trains do not operate on Thanksgiving Day. The Transit Information Center, Metro Transit Service Centers, Customer Relations and Lost & Found are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Reduced service on the day after Thanksgiving

Due to decreased demand on the day after Thanksgiving, Metro Transit and regional transit providers will reduce service on Friday, Nov. 25. Saturday fares will be charged (except where noted). Northstar will follow a reduced schedule on Nov. 25.
