Ammo Found In Diaper Bag At 7-Year-Old's Plymouth Home: Report
A search warrant was executed at the home where 7-year-old Keyaris Samuels died last week after finding a loaded handgun.

PLYMOUTH, MN — A half-full box of .357 ammunition was found in a diaper bag in the home where 7-year-old Keyaris Samuels accidentally shot himself last week, according to a search warrant. Investigators said the ammo is the same caliber as the handgun believed to have killed Keyaris.
The boy's mother said previously she was not aware there was a gun in the house and told police it wasn't hers.
Keyaris' mother also told authorities that her friend visited the house the day Samuels was killed and must have left the gun there, documents reviewed by KSTP state.

A DNA sample from the friend will be used "for comparison to any like evidence obtained from the handgun." Authorities tell KSTP the mom's friend is in custody.
Keyaris Samuels found a handgun stored in a box containing a new hoverboard and accidentally shot himself May 16, according to investigators.

"I'm incredibly angry about the irresponsible behavior of this gun owner," the city's police chief Mike Goldstein said at a press conference Thursday. Goldstein said he will seek to bring charges against the weapon's owner, who has yet to be determined.
There were no adults home when the shooting occurred, according to police. After coming home from school, Samuels and three other children were playing together when the gun was found.
Samuels was a first grader and attended school in Wayzata.
The incident is still under investigation.
