The temporary drop-off site for tree debris in the parking lot of Bass Lake Playfield will close today. Final hours of operation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27.
The regular city-operated yard waste site, 14900 23rd Ave. N., will continue to accept tree debris.
The other temporary site, in the parking lot of West Medicine Lake, is at capacity and closed June 25. Several residents have contacted the city, wondering why the site closed when it appears that there is still space at the site for more wood waste.
The city needs to reserve space for the wood grinder and semi-trucks to haul out the ground product. Grinding will begin at the Bass Lake site Friday, June 28. From there wood grinding will move on to the West Medicine Lake site.
Both sites are expected to be cleared by Thursday, July 4, weather permitting. The Maintenance Facility Yard Waste Site extended-hours schedule:
• 3 to 8 p.m. June 27-28
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 29-30
• 3 to 8 p.m. July 1-5, including Independence Day
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 6-7 After July 7, the site will go back to its routine schedule, 3-8 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays. The site is typically closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Reminder
Plymouth will not be conducting a curbside pickup of debris. Residents are responsible for disposing of their own tree and yard waste debris. The City of Plymouth is only removing tree waste from boulevard trees and the portion of private trees that have landed in the street and right-of-way (typically 10 feet from the curb). It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove and dispose of the portion of trees that are not in the street or right-of-way, as well as all trees on private property.
