Diamond National Karate Championships Celebrate 40th Anniversary

Top martial artists from Plymouth, MN and from around the world, will compete this weekend at the 40th Anniversary of the Diamond Nationals

The Diamond National Karate Championships, established in St. Paul, MN in 1978, is celebrating Forty Years of Excellence in martial arts competition. The tournament will take place for the 40th time this weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomington, MN.

More than two thousand competitors, of all ages and experience levels, flock to Minnesota each year to compete in one of the world’s premier martial arts competitions. The “Diamonds” are promoted and produced by JLB Productions (Larry Carnahan, Bill Dunkley & John Worley.) According to Carnahan, “We are expecting a record turnout this year! We will welcome competitors from almost every state in the Union, Mexico, Canada, most European countries and India.”

“Top ranked black belt competitors make their way to this event every year…and everyone is striving to win the grand champion diamond rings…the most coveted martial arts award in America”, says Carnahan.

Competition starts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6th and continues Saturday, October 7th. Eliminations are held in all ranks and age brackets on Friday and Saturday, with the Finale set to take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. Spectator tickets are available at the door.
