Family Has Fun Finding Fire & Ice Festival Medallion

The Dornisch family found the 2012 Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival medallion at Circle Park.

A week before the Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival the Dornisch family made a special discovery.

They were looking in earnest around Circle Park in Plymouth and found this year's medallion in a hole in a picnic shelter.

"It was the last clue that really helped," said Joanie Dornisch.

The last of four clues had read: "With this winter's mild weather, a picnic could be in order for the hearty; Other years on this sphere, snow and ice would've ruined your party."

The words "sphere" and "picnic" were the key to their discovery.

But it was her youngest children, Zane and Deeanna, who discovered the medallion with help from older brother Quinton.

"We looked at Parker's Lake, Bass Lake, Schmidt Lake and West Medicine Lake," Joanie said.

It was truly a family affair because though their grandmother had passed away recently, Joanie says they think she was helping them in their search.

"This was a fun thing to do outside and the weather has been pretty decent," she said. "We looked around a lot of picnic tables, baseball dugouts, under bleachers and around signs that had the word 'lake' on them."

Zane said the experience was fun. The family hopes to use the $250 Visa gift card for their Tennessee trip this year. Zane and Deeanne accepted the card on behalf of their family during the Fire & Ice Festival Feb. 4.
