Pair of Plymouth College Students Spend Spring Break Focusing on Homelessness, Poverty

Two Plymouth residents and students at Marquette Universtity spent their recent spring break focusing on homelessness and poverty.Â
Oliver Haugland, a senior environmental engineering major, traveled with four other students to Chelsea, MI, and performed service focusing on rural poverty and environmental justice.
Sarah Hauer, a junior journalism major, traveled with 13 other students to Chicago and performed service focusing on homelessness.

Since 1977, MAP has offered students the chance to work and interact with people all over the United States. Sponsored by Marquette's Campus Ministry, the trips expose students to aspects of poverty, racism and the lives of the disabled in today's society.
Depending on the site, students may be doing anything from assisting in classrooms to preparing meals at homeless shelters to repairing houses devastated by storms.

This year, over 175 Marquette volunteers traveled to 19 different sites in 13 different states.
