Plymouth's Walk with the Mayor drew a good crowd of diverse ages on May 6.

About 150 people joined Plymouth Mayor Kelli Slavik for the Walk with the Mayor May 6. The event serves as Plymouth’s official kick-off to the Step To It Challenge, a friendly competition among 23 cities for the title of most active community.

Participants gathered for a recreational 30-45 minute walk around Plymouth Creek Park and Hilde Performance Center. When walkers arrived at the Millennium garden, they were treated to free Minnesota Twins T-shirts, pedometers, water, granola bars and an opportunity to sign up for the four-week Challenge.

"The turnout was impressive, with a wide variety of ages, including Daisy Scout Troop 1622, Girl Scout Troop 1437 and senior residents from SummerWood of Plymouth,” said Recreation Supervisor Alyssa Krumholz, who organized the event.
