PHOTOS: Plymouth Library Art Display Celebration
Three local artists talk about their works displayed in the Plymouth Public Library.
With melodic stylings of jazz guitar Jeff Warren wafting through the atmosphere, members of the public were able to experience sights and sounds of different arts at the Plymouth Public Library March 31.
It's not the only time you can enjoy art. With another art display recently put up, there is always a chance to look at local artists' work.
But on this day, an exhibit of art created by students in all seven elementary schools in the Wayzata School District was also on display along with the more or less known artwork up in the library.

During a presentation Jack Becker, executive director of Forecast Public Art, facilitated a discussion with artists Shawnee Langworthy, Phil Daniel and Joan Solomon to find out what inspired them to create their pieces to be housed at the Plymouth library.
"The Dream Machine," a stained glass artwork located on the Vicksburg Lane side of the library, was created by Daniel and Langworthy. Though Daniel was in London at the time, he was able to talk via Skype on the library's computer network.

Solomon talked about using recyclable materials, knowing where things came from and where they would go, being a huge influence on her piece she created out of bamboo and other materials. The piece is called “Elements of Harmony."
Also St. Paul painter, muralist and community activist Ta-coumba Aiken was on hand to talk about the value of public art in peoples' lives and civic spaces.
