Plymouth Creek Elementary Hosts Successful International Night

World cuisine from Mexico, France, India and Japan was represented, along with international coffees from Sumatra and Columbia provided by Starbucks.

Plymouth Creek Elementary hosted an International Night event March 7 that drew in a large number of students and their families to celebrate cultures from around the world through country exhibits, activities, world cuisine and entertainment.

This year, 16 countries were represented with exhibits including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Sweden, Tanzania and Turkmenistan.

Students had an opportunity to create international crafts, learn through world trivia and games and in the reading corner they heard folktales from different parts of the globe.

Families attending the evening were entertained by traditional Indian dances performed by Plymouth Creek students, rock and roll via the British Invasion as performed by musician Sasha Druva, an Italian aria from the opera Don Giovanni performed by third grade teacher Mark Wegner and a traditional dance performed by the Dolina Polish Folk Dancers. Participants were also surprised with a flashmob performance by Plymouth Creek staff to Gangnam Style.
