About City Center 2.0

Known as City Center 2.0, the project is part of a 2019 Plymouth City Council goal to update the vision for Plymouth’s central corridor by exploring options for continued development and redevelopment, while carefully considering land use to ensure a well-planned community with a varied tax base.

The project will examine place-making efforts, beautification and safety, as well as pursue public-private partnerships to bring additional community activities and uses to the area.

First introduced in 1996, City Center was designed to bring people together in a central location in Plymouth with a blend of cultural, recreational, civic and entertainment uses that encourage community interaction. The area is roughly defined as the geographic center of Plymouth, located one mile west of Interstate 494 on Highway 55. Among the landmarks in the area are Life Time Fitness, Plymouth Ice Center, Cub Foods, US Bank, Plymouth Grand 15, Plymouth Library and City Hall.

As part of City Center 2.0, the city has been collecting feedback about the types of activities and businesses that attract people to City Center, likes and dislikes about the area, suggestions for improvement, and input about potential barriers to growth.
