Plymouth Man Seriously Injured in Fireworks Incident

Reports conflict over the extent of Michael Anthony Hemple's injuries.

Details are scarce, but it appears that a Plymouth man was seriously injured in a fireworks accident over the July 4th holiday.

Michael Anthony Hemple was holding a firework when it went off in his hand, according to KSTP. The television station reports he lost part of his hand, while the Northland News Center reports he lost all of his hand.

The latter outlet says the incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on July 4, at the Lake-Ore-Be-Gone beach and campground in Gilbert, MN. It quotes a bystander saying Hemple had reached down to tend to a malfunctioning but lit firework when he was injured.
