Boxcutter Used To Threaten Plymouth Cub Foods Cashier

A man points a box cutter knife at a cashier to get money, but flees upon refusal by cashier at Cub Foods. Also reported, a MacGyver type of device thrown at a driveway.

According the Plymouth Police report, an explosive device was thrown on a driveway the morning of Feb. 21 at a home on the 4600 block of Ranchview Lane.

No damage was reported. Police described the device as a “MacGyver,” homemade type of device. The case is not under investigation as there are no suspects or leads to follow.

The police responded to an attempted robbery after midnight Feb. 23 at the .

The suspect came in to the story, went up to a cashier, asked for some cigarettes and when the cashier came back with them demanded money from the cash register and brandished a box cutter.

When the cashier refused to give the suspect money the man fled the store. The case is under investigation.

The police department’s report from Feb. 9-22 tallied 93 incidents, including:

  • One arson fire, under investigation
  • Seven assaults
  • One commercial burglary, $15 worth of change stolen from a business
  • Three residential burglaries
  • Five domestic assaults,
  • Seven controlled substances found
  • Nine criminal damages to property
  • Four DOCs reported, three were on local schools’ properties
  • Three DWIs
  • Two reports of forgery
  • Eight reports of fraud
  • One harassing phone call
  • Eleven hit and run incidents, one of which a semi hit a car and failed drove off at an intersection
  • Two underage liquor incident, one involving two women underage, the other a man selling alcohol out of his car
  • Eight thefts from motor vehicle
  • Thirteen thefts, several were of scrap metal or aluminum materials
  • One theft of a motor vehicle, later called in that it was found
  • Two violation orders,
  • Two reports of prostitution
  • One report of terroristic threats given
  • One report of a weapons offense in which an explosive device was thrown onto a driveway
