Plymouth Police Conduct Crosswalk Sting

If you saw some Plymouth Police cars sitting near Fernbrook Lane in Plymouth yesterday you weren't alone.

They weren't just sitting.

The police were on hand to catch drivers who failed yield to pedestrians who were crossing the street at a crosswalk as part of a crosswalk sting operation Aug. 28.

It's been done in other cities as well. Often police pull over more than one vehicle at a time and discover many drivers are simply distracted or didn't notice people trying to cross the street at the crosswalk.

The sting was done near a park with many families and children nearby. The operation shed light on an issue that arises for back to school safety for children, families and drivers.
