POLL: What Happened To Plymouth's Ranking?

Plymouth was on the top of Money Magazine's Best Cities list only four years ago, but not anymore.

"Plentiful jobs, excellent schools, affordable housing - America's best small cities have all that and more," according to Money Magazine.

In 2008, Money Magazine ranked Plymouth, MN as number 1 in the nation as the best small city with a population range of 50,000 to 300,000.

The population range switches every other year. In 2009 and 2011, rankings were only for cities with a range of 8,500 to 50,000 in population.

In 2010, Plymouth dropped a bit in ranking to No. 11, but still held onto its high "best" status.

But this year, it seems Plymouth dropped completely off the ranking list. It didn't even make top 100.

Plymouth isn't the only city to slip. Eden Prairie was No. 1 in 2010, but has dropped to No. 3 this year.

Cities that made the 2012 best list include: Woodbury (11), Eagan (14), Lakeville (19) and Maple Grove (22).

Affordable homes, pricey homes, top-earning towns, job growth, commutes, weather/temperature, quality of life, age ranges, clean air/environment are some of the areas used in ranking the cities.

Plymouth's stats can also be found on the Money Magazine site. In some areas, the city exceeds the average for those cities in the nation listed as the "best," like median family income per year and reading and math test scores.

But in other instances, Plymouth ranks below the average for the "best" cities like property crime incidents (per 1,000) and job growth percentage (from 2000 to 2011).
