PRISM to host annual Golf Tournament and Happy Hour Event

(Golden Valley, MN, September 2016) – On Friday, September 30, PRISM will host one of its biggest fundraising events of the year: the 2016 Golf Tournament and Happy Hour Event. This marks the event’s seventeenth year, and will feature an 18-hole tournament with on-course contests, followed by lawn bowling, dinner, dessert, raffles, and prize games.

Since 1970, PRISM has been a key provider of food, clothing, housing assistance, and other social services for 5,000 struggling households each year. Rooted in local suburban connections, PRISM empowers people in our community to build healthy stable lives.

“As the needs in our suburban community continue to grow, it is imperative that PRISM provides accessible and professional services to promote stability and health. “stated Executive Director Michelle Ness. “Attendees of this event will have fun, while joining the growing number of people who are excited about PRISM’s great work.”

PRISM’s 2016 two-part event will begin with an 18-hole golf tournament starting at 12:00, and a post-tournament happy hour and lawn bowling event running from 4:00 – 7:00. This year’s event will take place at Brookview Golf Course and Lawn Bowling Greens in Golden Valley, and is expected to draw 150-200 attendees.

Golfers will be eligible to win prizes for on-course contests like pink ball, closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and winning team. In addition, each golfer will receive a goodie bag and have an opportunity to participate in a hole-in-one contest, sponsored by the PGA Tour Superstore, with the winner receiving a $1,000 shopping spree to the store. Each golfer is invited to enjoy the happy hour and lawn bowling event following the tournament at no extra charge.

Golfers and attendees of the post-tournament happy hour event will be treated to a gourmet barbeque dinner and dessert from Pickles Catering, beverages, non-competitive lawn bowling, and an opportunity to purchase tickets for prize games and a raffle, with event prizes totaling over $5,000.

“PRISM’s annual Golf Event is a unique opportunity for the community to support the critical services we provide, while having a great time.” said Ness. “We’ve made a number of changes to the event this year, so folks who are attending for the first time and those who have participated in previous years are in for a treat!”

This year’s sponsors include Rudy Luther Toyota, Valley Community Presbyterian Church, Cub Foods – Plymouth, Corcoran Pet Care Services, PGA Tour Superstore, Spirit of Hope Book Club and Friends, Culver’s Golden Valley, Xcel Energy, TCF Bank, Jewish Family and Children’s Service, Tech Discounts, Telin Transportation Group, MN Twins, and others.

An individual golf tournament ticket costs $125 and includes the 18-hole tournament, cart, goodie bag, opportunity to participate in on-course games, and ticket to the happy hour and lawn bowling event (see details below).

A single ticket to the happy hour and lawn bowling event costs $50 and includes dinner, dessert, drink ticket, lawn bowling, and opportunities to purchase tickets for the raffle and prize games.
