Sonnesyn Elementary School Teacher Honored By District 281

Fifth grade teacher Jill Bryan was named Robbinsdale Area Schools Teacher of the Year 2013.

Described as “warm, welcoming and patient,” Jill Bryan, a fifth grade teacher at Sonnesyn Elementary, was named Teacher of the Year for Robbinsdale Area Schools.

“I could not be more pleased that Jill Bryan is being recognized for her talents as she is a truly gifted educator,” said Leia Ward, Sonnesyn Elementary’s Principal. “Jill has the passion and skills to help all students reach their potential.”

It is the second year the district has been involved in the competition. The news came at a reception on Wednesday evening at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, which combined recognition by the Seven Dreams Education Foundation (SDEF) for their Hands-on Learning Grant winners and the announcement of Teacher of the Year.

“I hope that everyone feels as inspired by their work as I do by mine,” Jill recently wrote about her philosophy of teaching. “While my plate is constantly overflowing, I am grounded in the work I do with students every day, the colleagues that share their passion for teaching and the knowledge that I can make the difference for a child every day I go to work.”
