Wayzata Boys Basketball Coach Phil Ward Retires
Wayzata High School has appointed Nick Tibesar as the interim head boys basketball coach at Wayzata High School.

From the Minnesota State High School League:
After 17 seasons coaching the Wayzata High School boys basketball team, Phil Ward has made the decision to retire from coaching. Coach Ward complied a 251-166 record while his teams competed in the tough Classic Lake and Lake Conference, and in Section 6AAA.
“My 17 years coaching basketball at Wayzata was a great experience. The experience at Wayzata was uplifting, fun, and ultimately a great part of my life. I will miss the time spent with the kids on the court, but still have classroom time to build relationships. I am at peace and happy about my decision to retire – it is time, I am excited for the next challenge. ” said Coach Ward.
Jaime Sherwood, Director of Athletics & Activities, shared, “Phil always had the kids ready to compete and play hard. But I am most impressed with how be built strong relationship with the players. The number of players who come back to alumni games, or stop into watch practice or a game speaks volumes to the impact Phil had in their lives.”
Wayzata High School has appointed Nick Tibesar as the interim head boys basketball coach at Wayzata High School. Nick had been an assistant coach at Wayzata for 6 years, and for the last two years was the head boys basketball coach at Andover High School.
