Wayzata Shooters Win Clay Target League Conference

Kerri Mueller led the 15A conference girls, and Max Bunning was top in the conference for the boys.

The Wayzata High School Trap Club edged out Blaine to win the 15A Conference title, according to the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League.

Wayzata’s 82.5 total points for the season were just 1.5 points more than the runner-up. The school placed seven students among the conference’s top 10 shooters—including girls leader Kerri Mueller (21.8 points) and boys leader Max Bunning (23.3 points). Mueller also placed second overall in the league for the girls, while Bunning placed seventh overall for the boys.

Boys

  • Joshua Busse (22.5 points, fourth in conference)
  • Jack Nelson (22.2 points, seventh in conference)

Girls

  • Stephanie Petsilis (17.7 points, fourth in conference, 25th overall)
  • Veronica Ramirez (16.9 points, sixth in conference)
  • Kristen Patnode (16.1 points, ninth in conference)

The shooters will next try to carry their success into the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League State Tournament that takes place June 7 though 9 at the Alexandria Shooting Park. About 200 students are expected to compete.
