MacPhail Music for Life, a lifelong learning and creative aging program, and Lyngblomsten's The Gathering, an award winning adult group respite, have collaborated to create a meaningful and creative musical experience for its older adult participants. The two have been collaborating weekly since February 2013 and want to share their success highlighting music lessons for older adults with memory loss and offer the community a sample program to participate in. Â
MacPhail Music for Life classes offer a variety of activities--such as singing, playing percussion instruments, storytelling, improvisation, and dance--that create an environment promoting wellness, artistic growth, community building, and self-expression. MacPhail teaching artists Josh Osborne, Nick Johnson and Iris Shiraishi will facilitate the sessions and share their experiences, creative aging research, and program benefits in this interactive program. We hope you can join us in celebrating arts, aging, and the power of music in our community.
If you have questions, please contact Tamra Brunn at (612) 767-5385.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
