Maplewood Mall, Maplewood’s family friendly shopping venue, held a Girls Are Powerful “Celebrate Y.O.U.” Workshop last weekend, which raised $1,125 for the local charity. Young ladies were taught the value of self-worth with the assistance of guest speakers and power stations, where girls were led to identify their strengths and core values.
Girls Are Powerful is a non-profit organization based out of St. Paul, whose social mission is to empower girls to foster strength of character, change the way they view and feel about themselves and accept their unique individuality. Its focus is to help support and create a generation of girls and young women who are confident, maintain positive relationships, make positive decisions and exhibit behaviors by embracing their power.
“We are grateful to everyone who came out to support such a worthy cause,” said Nicole Drennan, marketing director at Maplewood Mall. “At Maplewood Mall, we pride ourselves as being an integral part of this community and we will continue to be a resource for local families and residents in the area.”
