Find Out How to Use Nextdoor.com at This Meeting Saturday

The private social networking web site is helping connect neighbors, says Kathy Rumundt, who helped launch the initiative.

Kathy Ramundt, a key organizer of Nextdoor.com in Roseville, will talk about how the city's residents can make use of the private social networking web site at a meeting scheduled this Saturday.

Ramundt's meeting will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 23 at the Roseville Library's Community Room. The library is located at  2180 Hamline Ave. N.

As of the end of 2012, Nextdoor had 1,265 members from 15 Roseville neighborhoods, Ramundt said. But she added that a recent survey indicated that respondents felt the service would be better if more people were involved.

"Roseville has worked with Nextdoor to establish broad neighborhood areas that correspond to our park system “constellations” as the basic geographic building blocks of our community." Roe said. "Individual smaller areas are also free to set up their own specific neighborhood groups within the larger areas to match their localized and personalized sense of neighborhood.

Roe added, "The site can be used by the City to send out messages related to public safety or community events."
