Free Classes Today on Straw Bale Gardening
Roseville's Joel Karsten will present garden instructions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
Roseville's Joel Karsten will present a series of free hourly classes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Saturday) on the basics of doing straw bale gardening.Â
Karsten, founder of Straw Bale Gardens, will hold his classes at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds' Â north parking lot off of Snelling Avenue.Â
A demonstration straw bale garden will be set up and visitors can purchase straw bale materials, including straw bales.Â

Karsten will also be signing and selling copies of his best-selling book " Straw Bale Gardens."
In a blog on Roseville Patch, Karsten said, "It is completely possible to grow a beautiful garden on your old concrete patio, or in the parking lot behind your office, if you grow a Straw Bale Garden! Bales are raised up off the ground making it easier to plant for anyone with physical limitations.Â
