Greiling To Be Inducted Into State DFL Women's Hall of Fame

Greiling's service included Roseville School Board, Minnesota House of Representatives.

The Women’s Summit Committee has named former Roseville state lawmaker Mindy Greiling to be inducted into the Minnesota DFL Women's Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony is slated Saturday for Greiling, who was a state representative for 20 years before retiring at the end of the 2012 legislative session. The Hall of Fame event, now in its 14th year, will be held at The Prom Center in Oakdale.
Why is the Women's Committee inducting Greiling?
"A long-time champion of principles and policies important to the DFL and our constituencies, Mindy was elected to the Roseville Area School Board in 1987 where she served until being elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1992," officials for the Committee said in a statement.
The group noted that during Greiling's tenure, "she was an advocate of teachers and education, chairing the K-12 Education Finance Committee which enacted legislation to make school funding fairer across the state.
"Mindy was also passionate about mental health issues, founding and chairing the Mental Health Caucus, a bipartisan committee to improve access to mental health care.
But perhaps her greatest contribution as an advocate of women will be her record of recruiting, mentoring, and electing women to the state legislature and other elective offices."
The Committee said its DFL Women’s Hall of Fame "is the only award exclusively focusing on women. They recognize a broad range of female activists, both those new to the cause and trailblazers."
Greiling will be honored as a Woman of Distinction, a category "that honors women who have inspired, mentored, and blazed the trail for those who came after them. Women of Distinction have worked a lifetime bringing women into the DFL, assisting to move them into leadership positions, and advocating DFL ideals."
