New Coronavirus Emergency Rental Assistance Program Coming Soon In Ramsey County

Eligible renters will include households that earned 80% or less of area median income in 2020 or in the most recent month.

Ramsey County is partnering with the State of Minnesota on a new rental assistance program called COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance, which is operating under the banner of RentHelpMN. It will help eligible renters with overdue rent since April 2020, up to three months of upcoming rent at a time, and related utility payments. The program will be open for applications in the coming weeks.

Eligible renters will include households that earned 80% or less of area median income in 2020 or in the most recent month. Landlords will be able to apply on behalf of their eligible tenants as well. Detailed guidance will be published on this webpage as it becomes available.

Virtual Information Sessions

Please join Minnesota Housing at one of their upcoming information sessions to learn more about the program, who is eligible and what expenses will be covered.

They will share “Get Ready” checklists for renters and landlords that include the types of documents that will be requested as part of the application.

The virtual information sessions will be offered at two times. Please register for the date and time that best fits your schedule:

  • Tuesday, March 30 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. - REGISTER
  • Wednesday, March 31 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - REGISTER

Meeting participants will be able to join by internet or phone. Participants who join online will be able to submit questions in the chat. Those who join by phone are invited to submit questions to cera.mhfa@state.mn.us.

The meeting will be recorded and made available on Minnesota Housing's COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance webpage.
