The day recognizes the nearly 573 licensed foster care homes who provide a safe and healthy environment to approximately 873 children and 290 adults in the county. Foster care providers often face a difficult yet rewarding job, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The children and adults they help are often scared, depressed, or have a hard time trusting others. Foster families need wisdom, patience and humor to ensure the children and adults they help feel safe and loved.

The board thanked the licensed foster care providers for their dedicated service as they open their homes and hearts to vulnerable children and adults.
