Teen Trafficking Subject of League of Women Voters Meetings Oct. 15-16

Beatríz Menanteau, a staff attorney with the Woman's Human Rights Program for the Advocates for Human Rights, will be the guest speaker.

The Roseville-Maplewood-Falcon Heights chapter of the League of Women Voters- Minnesota will hold forums on Oct. 15 and 16 on how we can protect our teens from human trafficking.   

The scheduled guest speaker is Beatríz Menanteau, a staff attorney with the Woman’s Human Rights Program for the Advocates for Human Rights. 

The Oct. 15 League meeting will be held at the Little Venetian Inn, 2900 Rice St.,  Little Canada.  A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.; the meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The Oct. 16 meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 910 County Road D, Roseville.

The League meetings are free and open to the public.  Please RSVP to Stephanie DeBenedet at 651-483-1006 or jdebenedet@msn.com by Oct. 14 to make reservations for the Oct. 15 dinner.

Menanteau assisted in advocating for amendments to Minnesota’s Sex Trafficking Law which passed in May 2009, and aided efforts to draft and pass Minnesota’s Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Youth Act in 2011, according to League officials. 

Menanteau also has conducted numerous trainings on sex trafficking across  Minnesota and organized the state's first training for local prosecutors on Minnesota’s sex trafficking law.
