Free Seminar: Positioning Women Owned Businesses For Success

A free, half-day seminar aimed at women-owned businesses will be held March 23 by the Office of Equity in Procurement.

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Department of Administration’s Office of Equity in Procurement (OEP) and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) are offering a free half-day webinar targeted for Women-owned businesses.

The online event will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Invited speakers include Commissioner Alice Roberts-Davis of the Minnesota Department of Administration and Commissioner Steve Grove from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, (DEED.)

Topics to be covered include:

  • an overview of the state’s contracting with Women-owned businesses,
  • a presentation on doing business with the state,
  • a live demonstration of some of the technology used by the state for registering as a potential provider of goods and/or services,
  • locating and responding to opportunities, and,
  • applying for certification in the state’s Small Business Procurement Program.

Additional invited resources include: The Association of Women Contractors, MnDOT’s Office of Advancing Equity, DEED’s Small Business Development Center, the United States Small Business Administration, the Women’s Business Development Center, and Women Venture.
The day wraps up with “Office Hours” - staff from the OEP and PTAC teams, as well as some of the invited resource partners will be available to answer questions and provide additional information.

Since 1991, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) has contributed to the growth of its clients and Minnesota’s economy by providing counseling and procurement technical assistance of the highest quality and relevancy. MN PTAC provides technical and marketing assistance to all Minnesota businesses interested in selling their products and services to the government. We provide the necessary tools to be competitive in the contracting arena. The Procurement Technical Assistance Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency.
